White mold
White mold ( Sclerotinia sclerotiorum) :
Generally appears as brown soft rot of stem at crown or above; becomes light gray; white cottony fungal growth when moist; hard, black, pea-like objects (sclerotia) eventually form; causing wilt and eventual plant death.
Control: Attempts to breed for crop resistance against white mold have largely been unsuccessful and currently no resistant tomato cultivars are available. Decreased planting densities may open plant canopies to create a less favorable environment for white mold development.
