White flies: Distortion of leaves

Symptoms

Distorting and drying of affected leaves.White appearance of lower surface of leaf and insects seen flying on disturbing the twig.

Control

• Management of heavy whitefly infestations is difficult.

• Remove infested leaves or hose down with water sprays.

• Insecticidal soaps or oils such as neem oil may reduce but not eliminate populations. Systemic insecticides may be more effective but can have negative impacts on beneficial insects and pollinators.

• Spray cyantraniliprole 10.26% OD @ 360 ml in 400 l of water / acre.
